Bernard Vogler
Bernard "Bernie"
F. Vogler, age 72, of Eau Claire was called home to be with his heavenly
father on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 after a 17 month strong fight against
cancer, surrounded by his beloved wife and children.
Bernie was born on August 23, 1940 in Eau Claire to Frank Sr. and Alice (Cowell)
Vogler. He attended and graduated from Memorial High School. Bernie moved
to Minneapolis and worked there for a short time before returning to Eau
Claire and on October 13, 1962, Bernie married Sharon Tollefson at
Pleasant Valley Lutheran Church in Eleva.
Throughout his career, Bernie worked for Ed Phillips and Sons, Dell
Construction and Brotoloc Health Care Systems, retiring from there in
2010.
He enjoyed many years of scouting activities with his sons serving as
Assistant Scout Master for the Boy Scouts Troop 36. Bernie's favorite
place to be was at his cabin, near Minong, WI where he enjoyed hunting,
fishing, playing cards and dominoes and socializing with his family and
friends. He was a lifelong member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church where he
was baptized, confirmed and served as usher and elder for numerous years.
Bernie will always be remembered for his quick wit, one liners, sense of
humor and friendly personality.
He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 50 years, Sharon;
three children, Julie (Tom) Mooney of Eau Claire, Jason "Jay" (Ann
Cummings) of Eau Claire, and Lance (Missy) of Eleva; seven grandchildren,
Ryan and Carlie Mooney, Janelle, Jacob and Jessica Vogler, and Austin and
Annica Vogler; one great-granddaughter, JaiLynn Vogler; five siblings,
Wilber (Vicky), Frank Jr. (Betty), Judy (Bill) Snow, and Marvin (Julie);
sister-in-law, Avis (Dale) Erickson; brother-in-law, Ron (Roxy) Tollefson;
and also by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Bernie was preceded in death by his parents; father and mother-in-law,
Norris and Gladys Tollefson; and sister-in-law, Delores Tollefson.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 20, 2013, at
Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 601 Fall St. in Eau Claire with Pastor
Carlton Kangas officiating. Burial will follow at Brunswick Cemetery, Town
of Brunswick. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, July 19,
2013, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home WEST CHAPEL, 1405 N. Clairemont
Ave., in Eau Claire and also one hour prior to the service on Saturday at
the church.
The family would like to thank Mayo Clinic Health Systems Cancer Center,
Dr. Mary Misischia, and the caring and compassionate staff at the Cancer
Center.
