Charles Thalacker
Charles Edward
Thalacker, 70, of Eau Claire, WI, died on Saturday, February 19, 2011, at
Luther Hospital in Eau Claire.
Charles was born on December 21, 1940, to Edward and Ruth (Smith)
Thalacker in Eau Claire. He attended Eau Claire Schools. He joined the
U.S. Navy in July 1959, and later transferred to the U.S. Army in July
1961. He was in the Army Reserves serving with the 397th Engineers
beginning May 1963. Charles then served another tour with the U.S. Navy
from November 1967 to November 1969, he then rejoined the 397th Engineers,
thus serving a total of 23 years in the military. He worked various jobs
after serving in the military; his favorite was CABCO, driving a cab in
Eau Claire. Charles married Trilby Forsberg in 1984.
Charles is survived by his wife, Trilby; daughter, Ella Thalacker of Eau
Claire; sons, Todd and Paul of Eau Claire; sister, Lois Lee of Eau Claire.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The funeral service for Charles will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday,
February 28, 2011, at Smith Funeral Chapel, Eau Claire, with Pastor Rolf
Nestingen officiating.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service.
Interment at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Spooner,
WI, will be at a later date.
