Clarice H. Pierce

Clarice H. Pierce, age 73, of Eau Claire, died peacefully with her family by her side, at Azura Memory Care in Eau Claire, on November 12, 2014. She was born in Colfax WI, on March 22, 1941, to Richard and Hattie (Anderson) Amble.

She grew up on a farm north of Colfax where she also attended school until 1957. The family then sold the farm and moved to Eau Claire and bought the Johnsonville Store, which was south of Eau Claire. Clarice graduated from Memorial High School in 1959 and worked as a legal secretary for several years.

On September 28th, 1963, she married David Pierce to whom she was married for 42 years. During that time they owned the family farm in the town of Brunswick, which they successfully operated until Dave's death in 2005. In addition to working on the farm, she was town clerk and then deputy clerk for the Town of Brunswick for a number of years as well as operated the polls during voting seasons. The majority of her professional career was a secretary at First Lutheran Church for 25 years.

Clarice had many talents and interests - gardening, camping, reading, snowmobiling, baking (especially pies) and cooking for her family. Clarice was particularly fond of the holidays and birthdays because she always had an opportunity to prepare a special feast for the family. She loved her flowers and listening to Dave tell his many stories. Over the years, Clarice was very active in her church, participating in many different activities and events. She also helped with 4-H, taught Sunday School and spent quality time with her grandchildren.

Clarice was very proud of her heritage and was a member of the Sons' of Norway. Her great-grandparents all came to the U.S from Norway in the 1860s.

Clarice is survived by her two daughters, Jane Pierce (Jody Doro) of Rhinelander and Teresa Holmes of Eau Claire; three grandchildren, Daniel (Laura) Holmes, Kaitlin (Jake) Woodley, and Joshua Doro; sister-in-law, Barb (Bruce) Wulff; nephews, Craig, Dan (Lisa) and Tim Wulff; niece, Wendy (Mike) Mosley; along with many other relatives and friends.
