Donald Fletty
Donald "Flub" P.
Fletty, 71, of Eau Claire, passed away on Thursday, October 27, 2011, at
Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire surrounded by his family following a
brief courageous battle with cancer.
Don was born on April 13, 1940, a son of Punch and Magdalene (Ausman)
Fletty. Don grew up on the West side of Eau Claire and graduated from Eau
Claire Memorial High School in 1959. Following graduation, Don enlisted in
the U.S. Navy and served four years. After his honorable discharge, he
worked for Uniroyal for 27 years. He married Tootie Redman on February 14,
1964, in Eau Claire. Together they spent 48 years of marriage and raised
their three daughters.
Don enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping with his family and friends. For
the last four years, Don and his family spent their summers at LeMere's
Campground on Dells Mill Pond in Augusta. Don will sadly be missed by all
who knew him.
Don is survived by his wife, Tootie; daughters, Dawn (Robert) Szymanski
and Lynn (Gerald) Gunderson, both of Eau Claire; five grandchildren, Jason
Hirschfield, Mandi Hirschfield, Joe (Kearston) Szymanski, Tony Gunderson,
and Kailee Gunderson; two great-grandsons, Carson and Aiden Hirschfield;
son-in-law, Kent Ozolins and family; siblings, Mary (Rich) Lindner, Dave
Fletty, Pete Fletty, LaVerne "Buster" Fletty, LaVonne Nazer, Pat (Jim)
MacLaughlin, Paul (Charlie) Fletty, Jerry (Erna) Fletty, and Cathy (Mitch)
Olson; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Bob (Marilyn), Sis (DeWayne), Don
(Joyce), Mitzy (Jack). He is further survived by many wonderful nieces,
nephews, friends and neighbors.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Kelly Ozolins;
son-in-law, Paul Hirschfield; brothers and sisters-in-law, Tom (Pinky),
Joe, and John (Mary); father- and mother-in law, George and Mildred
Redman; and a sister-in-law, Carol Fletty.
A Celebration of Don's Life will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on
Saturday, November 5, 2011, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home WEST
CHAPEL, 1405 N. Clairemont Ave., Eau Claire, WI. Inurnment with Military
Honors conducted by American Legion Post 53 will be in Lakeview Cemetery.
Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral and Cremation Services is assisting his
