Fred King Jr.
Fred H. King, Jr., age 63, of Griffin, Ga., passed away
suddenly at his home on Thursday, March 24, 2005.
Fred was born May 25, 1941, in Anderson, S.C., to Fred and Geneva King. From infancy
until he was 4, he lived in Vallejo, Calif., and then moved with his family to Eau
Claire, where he lived until he graduated from Memorial High School in 1959. He
served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1959 to 1962. He then settled in Georgia and
married Jean Duncan. He spent his adult life working in construction and as a heavy
equipment operator.
He is survived by his wife, Jean; daughters, Cynthia (Ernest), Harrell of Rockmart,
Ga., and Nena (Tom) Gentry of Griffin, Ga.; a son, Joe (Denise) Duncan of Milner,
Ga.; sisters, Barbara King of Minneapolis, Minn., Teresa (Rich) Van Gelder of Eau
Claire and Melinda (John) Fitts of Elk Mound; a brother, George King of San
Francisco, Calif.; grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren; and several nieces
and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Geneva, in 1961; and his father, Fred in
1988.
Funeral services and interment were held in Griffin, Ga., on Saturday, March 26,
2005.
A joint memorial service for Fred and his brother, George, who died on May 22, 2005,
will be held at Fuller-Speckien Funeral Home on Saturday, July 16, 2005, at 11 a.m.
Family and friends may call from 10 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home
on July 16.
Fuller-Speckien Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
