Gary Frank Jackson

Cherry Valley - Gary Frank Jackson, 70, loving husband, father, grandfather and favorite uncle, died Sept 13, 2011 in his home in Cherry Valley, IL. Born to Lynn and Evelyn (Welke) Jackson on March 17, 1941 in Eau Claire, WI. Gary worked 33 years for Sundstrand Corporation, retiring on 1/1/2000. He felt blessed to have enjoyed his retirement years working in his garage on his hobby, small engine repair. He took great pride in bringing an ailing piece of equipment back to life. He also loved his old hit ‘n miss engines. He belonged to two Old Engine Clubs in Freeport, IL and Eau Claire, WI. He enjoyed showing and running his old engines in club shows. He was a mechanic at heart. He liked being outdoors, doing yard work, gardening and walking every day with his dog. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and family, going to auctions, meeting his friends on the walking path and watching his Packers.

Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Dorothea (Dee); son, Randy (Helen) Jackson; daughter, Tina Jackson; and grandchildren, Ryan and Ashley. He will be greatly missed by his wife’s sister’s family, the Powers, Chris, Jim, Patrick (Meredith) and Briana (Owen) and great niece Elizabeth. He was a favorite uncle to his many, many nieces and nephews in the Jackson family and will be greatly missed by his lifelong friends in Eau Claire, Dave and Diane Hennig. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Keith and sister, Yvonne.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 17, 2011 at Honquest Family Funeral Homes with Crematory, 4311 N. Mulford Rd, Rockford Chapel. Express condolences and share memories online at www.honquestfh.com.
