Janet I. Rumphol, 73, of Altoona, died Wednesday, August 6, 2014, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire.

She was born in Eau Claire, WI, on August 20, 1940, the daughter of Lester and Lucille (Myers) Rumphol. Janet graduated from Eau Claire Memorial High School.

Janet’s favorite hobbies were sewing, knitting, and crocheting baby hats for newborn infants at Luther Hospital. Over the years she took care of several children. She had a very special place in her heart for Dakota James and Michael Richards.

Janet is survived by her brother, Lawrence Rumphol, Donald (Jean) Rumphol, Chuck Rumphol, Michael (Lois) Rumphol; sisters, Lorraine Newberry, Mary Sessions, Edith Eckwright, and Ruth (Mike) Walworth; and by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Lester, Robert, and James; and a sister, Evelyn.

Memorial Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 12, 2014, at Baptist Evangelical Church, 125 Illinois St., Eau Claire, with Pastor David Christner officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at church. Burial will follow the service at Rest Haven Cemetery in the Town of Washington.
