John P. Ahneman
John P. Ahneman,
age 72 of Weyerhaeuser, WI, died on Wednesday, July 9, 2014, at St. Mary’s
Hospital in Rochester, MN. He was born on December 13, 1941, to Wilfred
and Nora (Egstad) Ahneman, in Eau Claire, WI.
John grew up in Eau Claire and attended Memorial High School. He married
Judy Moffitt in 1965 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Eau Claire. John
enlisted in the US Navy where he proudly served our country for over 20
years, retiring as a Chief Petty Officer. After retiring from the American
Excelsior Co. in Rice Lake, John spent his remaining years at his beloved
lake home at Island Lake, where he enjoyed fishing and hunting.
John is survived by his children, Kelly (Mike) Mahler and John W. Ahneman
both of Acworth, GA; grandchildren, John Robert Ahneman, Bryce Ahneman,
Kennedy Ahneman, and Connor Mahler; sister, Jane Phillips of New Auburn;
and former wife, Judy Crotteau of Powder Springs, GA. He is further
survived by his beloved dog, Coco.
He is preceded in death by his parents; twin grandsons, Brandon and
Michael Ahneman; nephew, David Phillips; and brother-in-law, Harry
Phillips.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 12, at
Lenmark Gomsrud Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Ave., Eau Claire, with a
visitation one hour prior to the service. Pastor Amy Odgren will be
officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by the Eau Claire American
Legion Post #53 following the service. Interment will be at a later date
in the Northern WI Veterans Cemetery in Spooner, WI.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Donor’s choice.
