From the Eau
Claire Leader-Telegram
John Thomas
Eberhardt
John Thomas
Eberhardt, 69, of Eau Claire, WI, passed away in the comfort of his home
on June 16th 2011 after a courageous battle with lung cancer. He was born
on August 13th 1941 in Eau Claire to George and Evelyn Eberhardt. John
graduated from Memorial High School in 1959. He married his sweetheart
Dorothy Nyre on Oct 13th 1962. John worked hard throughout his life to
provide for his family. He worked for United Parcel Service for 30 years
and retired in 2003. He looked forward to and enjoyed his retirement. Most
importantly he loved spending time with his lovely wife Dorothy, his
children and grandchildren.
John was an avid craftsman with an eye for detail. He spent much of his
free time building furniture that will live on as family heirlooms, taking
walks with his canine companion Molly, working in his gardens,
photographing nature, and spending time with his beloved family. Those
closest to him understood that he was quiet man with the patience of the
wisest soul. He was a wonderful and devoted father and "grandpa", who
could easily spend his days tinkering in the shop or garden, teaching
those around him as he worked. When it came to fixing things, John was a
walking "owner's manual" and he took pride in being able to bring old
things back to life. He will be missed by all those whose lives he
touched.
John is survived by his wife Dorothy, daughter Pamela (Craig) Aspenson,
son, Jahn (Angela) Eberhardt, grandchildren Alison and Andrea Aspenson and
Ethan, Parker and Addison Eberhardt, and Molly his English Springer
Spaniel. He is also survived by his sisters Elaine Singel and Joan Dorn,
and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents
George and Evelyn, and brothers Richard and Donald Eberhardt.
Thank you Dad for all you brought to us during our time together. We
recognize nothing lasts forever in this earthly place. Our time together
was cut short, yet we know we are better people because of you. You will
be missed but not forgotten. We would like to thank the Mayo Clinic Health
System Hospice nurses, Dr. Burns and the Cancer Center nurses who helped
care for and comfort him during his illness.
Memorials may be sent to Grace Lutheran Church and the Mayo Clinic Health
System Cancer Center.
