step-father's name throughout his young life because his dad was killed at
Pearl Harbor, and Bob never knew him. However, he found out, as an adult,
that his legal name was Robert Elwing. His home was in Sparks, NV.)

Robert Elwing
Robert Elwing, went to the Lord on Thursday, October 22, at a local
hospital due to a lengthy illness. Born to Clarence and Elsie Elwing, in
Chicago, IL on December 1, 1941, he is survived by his wife of 26 years,
Ruthann "Robin" Elwing. Between the couple there are four daughters,
Christianna Burns, Deborah Farris, Rhonda Bogard and Roshanna J.M. Elwing.
The couple also shared three sons, Matthew Elwing, Jeffrey Ydiando, and
John Farris. Nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren complete the
clan.
The eldest of seven, he has two living brothers and one sister, John Klopp,
Joel Klopp, and Frances Klopp Jones. Mr. Elwing was a graduate of Memorial
High School, Eau Claire, WI, Lower Columbia College, and Portland State,
in Oregon. He served four years during the Viet Nam era in the US Air
Force, being honorably discharged. A casino manager and dealer from the
early 70's, he retired in 2007 from the Silver Club. An adamant supporter
of Christian schools, Mr. Elwing was one of the supporting founder couples
of His Little School, 1997 Legacy Christian, and 2003 Excel Christian
School. He supported Samaritan's Purse, Boy Scouts USA, Reno- Sparks
Gospel Mission, and Salvation Army. Mr. Elwing was a lyricist in the
sixties, as well as author of two books on probability and gaming. He and
his wife are members of Horizon Christian Church, Sparks.
A Memorial will be held on Friday, October 30, at 6 p.m. Excel Christian
School 2285 Oddie Blvd., Sparks. In lieu of flowers, it was his wish to
contribute to the scholarship fund at Excel Christian School.
